Coach Richard Kernohan is keen to see as many players as possible turning out on Tuesday and Thursday evenings at seven o’clock sharp. A lot of the squad have been keeping there fitness at a high level throughout the summer break, but pre-season training is a key factor in match fitness and can give the teams an edge as the season starts up.
All current playing members are encouraged to come along, as well as those wanting to return to playing with the club. New players, of all ability levels, will be made especially welcome.
As a start to training the rugby squad recently organised a team building day. There was fitness training for everyone, much of it involving moving heavy tyres about the pitch, and team building exercises such as orienteering and rescuing a bucket of beer. Some of the squad may still be out there, looking for the mythical seventh marker.
The event was rounded off with a barbeque and everyone settled down to watch the final Lions test match.
Remember training, every Tuesday and Thursday evening at 7.00pm sharp, starting next week, July 21.
