01/11/2009 : Fundraising match for Daniel McAuley |
COLERAINE Rugby Club is holding a fundraising rugby match to support a young club member recovering from serious illness.

Daniel McAuley
Daniel McAuley was on the Sandel Lodge pitches, coaching the Under 17 side in early September when he collapsed, suffering from severe head pain. He was taken to the Causeway initially but was later transferred to the Belfast were he was treated in intensive care for several weeks before starting his slow recovery to health.
Club members have now organised a fund raising rugby match on Sunday, November 15. The "Brian Kneeland All-Stars" will take on a "Club Select XV", starting at 1.00pm, to be followed in the clubhouse with live international rugby, Ireland against Australia.
All money raised in the event will go to help support Daniel’s physiotherapy as he battles to get back to full fitness.
Daniel was playing for Coleraine U18’s last season until injury sidelined him. He is a devoted club member and although unable to play because of the injury, he immediately volunteered to coach younger members of the club and maintain his contribution to rugby at the club.
Everyone at the club wishes Daniel a speedy recovery and members and friends are invited to take part in the event and to come along to lend their support on the day.
For further information contact Brian Kneeland, David McKendrick or Jim Wilmot at the club.
Come along and have a game - over 35s are especially welcome - relive your glory days on the rugby pitch for Coleraine - and it's all in a very good cause.
